Ute's Birth Story

This was, by far, the most incredible experience I have ever been asked to document.

It's pretty crazy if you think about it, being asked to document one of the most private, intimate moment of some ones life. A LOT of people think having a photographer for this event is odd, then they see the pictures and wish they would have done the same. I LOVED doing these. I left the hospital with the biggest high. Shooting this seriously made my month, I tell everyone that asks what I'm up to... "oh my gosh, i shot my first birth story!!!."

I shot Mackenzie and Jesse's wedding about 2 years ago. Funny thing is, since then I run into them everywhere, about every 4 months or so. Mackenzie is one of those people that you consider a pretty close friend but then when you think about you don't really know why because you never hangout and never talk. I love it. She is fabulous. Not to mention the rest of her family. Oh my goodness. They were SO welcoming at the hospital! I might as well have been one of the family. They were fabulous.

Thank you Mackenzie and Jesse and your family. This was AWESOME. you are awesome.
It seriously was a privilege and I feel honored to have been there.

  3. Jennie: Small world!
Janica: me too! Funny that i didn't cry at all when I had lusi (I think because of the adrenaline) but Mackenzie's, not the case! The photo of her mother turning away... bah... I still can't look at it without choking up.

Also, Isaac was looking at them with me and he goes "but where is the picture of the baby coming out?" Nice.

  6. Dearest Sharon,
You are amazing. These are beautiful! I never knew people actually did these shoots and I will admit I thought it was totally weird when I first heard about it. But these pictures are so touching that after looking at them it made me want my first birth to be documented! You are basically my hero :) love you and miss you!
