Some Oldies: San Diego

I'm pretty positive that my Kerry took most of these. He is awesome.
RIP Mamiya 645... you served us well, I hope to get a new body for you soon.

I'm barely keeping afloat this week. Sorry for the MIA of posts. I'm happy, just busy.

Quote of the week goes to Kerry. After asking me for 30mins why I was acting so weird he spouted out.
"I think I figured it out. You are happy! "

So sad... so true.. and it's about time! I'm glad to be back.
(Thank you happy pills and going to bed at a decent hour every night.)

Travel Photography: Lynchburg, TN

I can't believe I have yet to blog these! Blogging them now, when it's freezing outside and we just got hit with a huge snow storm here in Utah, is making me ACHE for summer and heat.... like double over almost tearing up ACHE for summer. I'll even wish for the humid TN heat that almost did me in on this trip. SUMMER!!! COME SOON!! or spring... I'll take even a little spring at this point.

This was one of my favorite excursions we took from our trip last summer. If you are headed anywhere near Nashville, I highly recommend stopping in and getting your free tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery. Even if you aren't drinkers (we aren't), the story behind Jack and his old number 7 is incredibly interesting, that and the gorgeous grounds will leave you quite impressed. And you don't even have to worry about being feeling uncomfortable at the end of the tour when free drinks are passed around, and your the only one not drinking because the drinks are lemonade, and there isn't an open bottle of alcohol near the place!
Lynchburg is one of the few remaining dry cities in the USA. crazy!

Walking in Nashville...

...rather, making out in the middle of the road in Nashville.

This walk we took was a moment for me. You know those moments when you are wearing the perfect outfit, you feel like a size 2, and you hair is falling just right and you know, you honestly whole heartedly know, not just believe, but KNOW, that your life is perfect?
Even with all it's flaws,
bills
disaster of a house
screaming kid
extra bit of weight from the baby
you name it
it is perfect?
Ya, it was one of those.

The evening we went walking on the winding road in the nowhere of nashville, I got a break from all of those flaws, and realized that if given the chance, I wouldn't do away with any of them. Those flaws give me a chance to
have a haven in Kerry's arms.

Those arms make me know I am safe
know I am sane
know I am beautiful funny and smart
know that when it's a day I'll be spending under the covers with tissues, I can!, and that everything will be ok,
know that I'll be loved forever.

Kerry's arm... Kerry is my haven.

(plus he looked really dreamy in the nashville evening light.... it adds a bit...)

I REALLY like him.
He REALLY likes me too.

Mexico

After returning home from Alaska I went straight to my little brothers room and stole the camera my grandpa had given him years back. It once belonged to my grandpa and is an old Minolta X700, it hadn't be used in years, I had no idea how to use it but I just started shooting everything. In October my friends Blair, Teresa, and I got the chance to go to Copper Canyon for a few days and spend time with the Taramari Indians. It was an amazing experience and the first time I shot with the camera. These people live on the top of the canyon, which we had to four wheel in to get to, and are almost completely untouched my civilization. They share everything within the community and walk miles and miles everyday to eachothers homes. They are shy and quiet and very modest. They really know what life is and how to live it. Family is everything to them. Sadly it had been so long since the camera had been used the film kept slipping and I lost half of my photos to leaks and layering shots. I was devastated when I got the film back and thought I had done something completely wrong with my exposures. Luckily it fixed itself, I got a few great shots and I still shoot with this camera every day. Digital is great but nothing compares to Film.
